Westlund Counselling is the ACT’s leading community-based counselling service for LGBTIQ people, their families and their allies. Our qualified team provides confidential counselling for LGBTIQ people, their families and their allies seeking support to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

Westlund Counselling is committed to provide a safe, inclusive and non-judgemental therapeutic environment that values the unique lived experiences of anyone seeking counselling with our team. We welcome members of the community over the age of 15, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, cultural background, religious belief or economic circumstances.

Through counselling we provide assessments, support and referral for a range of issues including but not limited to:
– coming to terms with your gender and sexuality
-emotional and physical health
-relationships, employment, education and accommodation.

If you do not identify with the identities or the issues described above, we encourage you to contact our Counselling Team on 02 6257 2855 to find out how we can support you.

Many of our team members are peers and all counsellors are qualified, competent, trained and experienced working in therapeutic settings with the LGBTIQ community.

Whatever issue you bring to counselling, we work with you to better understand the presenting issues you are facing and to find an effective way of moving forward. The Counsellor will help you make sense of yourself, your feelings, your behaviour, and together you will identify new and helpful ways to deal with your challenges.

Our goal is to actively support you in working towards a greater sense of wellbeing and control in your life as well as exploring creative solutions to issues that may seem overwhelming and hard to tackle. Counselling can also help restore perspective and objectivity, and contribute to positive change and growth.
